He Was Already ThereFall 2026

You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.

A 30-day devotional for the moments that almost break us, and the God who was present in every one.

He Was Already There hardcover book by Bryan Cox, a 30-day devotional for hard seasons

From Bryan Cox: pastor, author, and host of the Bryan Cox Leadership Podcast.

30+ years of serving the local church

“I’ve led worship, preached sermons, and counseled people through their hardest seasons. And gone home still carrying something I hadn’t dealt with myself.”

I write about both sides of that. Bryan Cox

About the book

Written for the person who’s tired of pretending.

He Was Already There is a 30-day devotional for hard seasons. Each day pairs Scripture with a true story from Bryan’s life: the day his mother died, the Sunday he couldn’t walk into church, the night the disconnection notices piled up.

It won’t hand you tidy answers. It sits with you in the questions and shows you, one story at a time, that God was present in every one of those moments before anyone knew to look for Him.

If you’ve ever felt something you weren’t sure you were allowed to say out loud, this book was written for you.

Seven days. Seven true stories.

Part One is free. One honest conversation about where God shows up when everything falls apart.

Day 1

The Orange Rocking Chair

The day his mother died, and the anger at God he didn’t know what to do with.

Day 2

The Parking Lot

One Sunday morning he sat in his car for 45 minutes, then drove home instead of going inside.

Day 3

He Just Sang

The moment he caught himself, and knew something was wrong beneath the surface.

Day 4

The Morning She Wasn’t There

Getting out of bed before the feeling came. Moving before you feel ready.

Day 5

The Night I Almost Pulled Over

Surrounded by disconnection notices at 6 p.m., he wrote the most honest prayer of his life.

Day 6

The Tree Came Through the Roof

The anchor doesn’t stop the storm. It keeps you from drifting.

Day 7

She Prayed Before She Knew Your Name

Someone prayed you into your faith before you ever knew to ask for it.

Start with Day 1 today.

All seven days, delivered to your device right now. Read them slowly.
